Local SEO Agency side business as a side gig?

has anybody ever tried creating an SEO agency targeting local businesses and had success?

For example
1 - learn SEO on how to rank a website for low to medium competition keywords in the google search engine
2 - call up local businesses on the 3rd, 4th, 5th page of google for these keywords (eg... "denver chiropractor") and offer to get them ranked on the 1st page of google search for keywords that their potential customers use o search for businesses like theirs "denver chiropractor"
3 - rank their website (on-page errors, optimize for targeting their keywords, improve load speed, compress images -- off-page, build citations and backlinks from authority sites that you build to send link juice to the client site, thereby making the site more relevant and authoritative in the eyes of the google seaech engine), and then after getting them onto the 1st page, ask them to pay $1000 per month for the position (and if they don't pay, then you undo what you did that got them the page 1 rank position and offer the result to another business that could use the same service)

Hey, it depends a lot on the type of business that you will be doing the SEO for. Most of the people that sell online already have someone that would do it for them. What you mostly can go for is local businesses. Definetly if you can learn the ins and outs of proper SEO, like creating backlinks, creating descriptive pages and testimonials and some other tricks to get the business on top, you can be paid, through a revenue sharing or fixed cost model. But to build a repuation first is important. So that you can refer new leads to previous clients. But the fees depends on the locality and the potential customer base.

Also you can try selling them catchy domains at a premium or setting up their business on facebook and other social media. Domain flipping too can be a good side gig, if you want to study and get informed about the latest domain name trends.
