Long days in the same shoes
First off, thanks to everyone who helped me pick out some decent shoes.
We wear our shoes for like 12-16 hours per day. How do you keep your feet from sweating and ruining your high end shoes? Thicker socks?

I take my shoes off/slip my feet out but keep them resting over the opening so it looks like im wearing them. Slip them back on when you get called to action.

Dr. Sholes
Yep, Dr. Sholes foot spray, perhaps one of the most amazing inventions of mankind... keeps feet dry most of the time, even if sweating occurs, odor is completely prevented. Around $5-7 at CVS.
always keep one thing in mind that never repeat the sock on consecutive day. that will help to keep your feet free from odor.
Also store you shoes in shoe trees, cedar is good because it soaks up any moisture left in your shoes. A pair will run you $15 - $20. I've heard people say this can exttend the life of your shoes a couple of years.
Yup, no sock repeating and take them out once in a while when you get a chance to. Sometimes I take em out and place them on the floor for a while. much relaxing. But make sure you do it behind your desk. ;)
Interesting...never through of the shoe trees idea.
shoe trees also slow down the bend wrinkles
Shoe trees are awesome and keep your shoes looking good. I have no insight into whether it's useful to buy nice ones, but I just go with the cheapest cedar ones around and buy them for every pair of dress shoes I own.
If anyone is looking to buy shoe trees, I've done some research around and $12-13 a pair is about as cheap as you can get them if you want the Woodlore ones with the split toe (the only ones I use). I've found them at that price at Nordstrom Rack and Century 21, whereas other stores will sell the same shoe trees for $20-30.
nordstroms makes allen edmond shoe trees i heard (i have nordstrom brand though and AE shoes) both around $20 regardless...good ROI if you ask me
Yeah, air them out at your desk when you get a chance and absolutely use cedar shoe trees. Ideally you should rotate through at least 2 pairs of shoes every other day, but when you are dropping $350 on some AEs, you probably aren't going to have double the amount laying around.
Cedar shoe trees will absorb the moisture, help the shoe retain its shape and make them last longer...especially when they only get a few hours off every night (assuming you generally wear the same shoes everyday). As kmzz said above, very good ROI.

fixed my post, meant shoe trees not shoe racks lol
Rub cedar shoe trees with tea tree oil
Don't forget the outside as well. I like to use AE's premium conditioner on a weekly basis. Every time I wear AE shoes, I apply polish that night. Sometimes I apply another thin layer of polish on the weekends if I notice any faint scuffs.
My shoes came with these little drawstring bags. When I hit the gym after work, I put each shoe in the drawstring bag, and put the shoetrees in the shoes as well.
The only thing you should be replacing over time are the soles. Leather soles wear out fairly quickly. You can talk to a cobbler about what your best course of action is: might be to apply a rubber sole, or just get the leather sole replaced, etc.
