Looking for a Plan
Hello all,
I am currently a sophmore at WVU. It is almost finalized that I will be at the University of Maryland Next fall though as I feel that WVU is just not gonna do it for me. My dream since I was in middle school has been to do something with the stockmarket. It has fascinated me to no end since I was little and it just seems like a dream field. My ultimate goal is to own my own hedge fund one day, but I know that this industry can very quickly lead you into sectors of finance that I may not have seen myself in. I am also very interested in financial advising and could really see myself doing that out of school, but the ultimate goal is eventually to run my own fund. I dabbled in entrepreneurship for a few years so am a little behind the curve but I want to start learning. I am a finance major who has an internship lined up at a highly respected insurance group this summer. I figure this is something to put on a resume and can get me on the right track and maybe get me a better one next summer and just keep plugging away. I also do plan on eventually getting an MBA from a top school after a few years experience. What books should I start reading? I'm really just not sure where to start, because I assume that I need to read many other books before I even start dabbling into studying hedge funds. I want to start with a good foundation then keep learning. I have no problem reading hours a day. I am just looking for advice from people who are where I want to be. I apologize if I broke any forum norms in this post, but some help would be greatly appreciated. If you read this I truly appreciate you taking your time out to try to help a young college kid looking for some guidance. Thank you all.
