Looking for advice - Current sophmore at Indiana University

Hi, I am currently a sophomore at Indiana University. I am double majoring in Infromatics (computer science) and Economics.

My dream job is to have a finance career, specifically private equity or investment banking.
I have an internship this summer in California working for an online stock broker called Ditto Trade.

Now I know this might seem like a dumb question but do you guys think that I am on a good path to getting my dream job. I am highly skilled with computer programming and statistical software.

nope...read a little bit on these forums about what a finance career looks like...PE and IB have nothing to do with programming and stats...so you don't need that. ..that said you might use your skills/knowledge down the line when looking at software companies, etc....with your skills you could fit a trader role or something quant....IB and PE is all about common sense, credit and equity analysis, relationship building, and business sense.

Do what you want not what you can!

I understand what skills pay off in IB and PE, I think my skills definitely align with these careers. However, I will acknowledge that I need to learn more about the ins and outs of these businesses before I have an interview. Hopefully I learn more about the finance world at my internship this summer.

Also, I am pretty much open to any career in the finance world.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.
