Looking for advice - my first internship

(tl;dr) Interning at a boutique PE firm and not learning as fast as I expected. I can’t see myself creating value in the future if things stay the way they are right now and this is bothering me a lot. Any advice?

My story in a few words:
1. I’ve been reading books about investing since I was a 12 and they’ve always interested me. So I decided to study something in this field.
2. Currently a senior at the #1 university in my country and last time I checked I was the best in my class (not that it means a lot. Well… thanks to this my university paid me to go on a semester-long student exchange programme in London– not bad at all).
3. Currently doing an internship at a boutique PE firm.

The biggest problem I’m facing:

I have no experience. Zero, zip, zilch, nada!
And this shop doesn’t have any kind of structured training or a formal investment process.
So I’m always asking myself (and my co-workers) things like “why are we evaluating this company? Where is the competitive advantage? Why company X and not company Y?”

Unfortunately, the answers never satisfy me, which makes me feel like “the one who is unable to understand things”. Truth is that I’m feeling very down lately. Before the internship began, I knew I’d not create much value (if any at all) in the first couple of months. But I did expect to learn stuff quickly, which is not happening – and this makes me think that I won’t be able to create any value in the future. I can only assume I’m doing something wrong.

Any advice, my dear monkeys?
