Looking for Research Job in NY

I am from Washington state and can't find a good finance job in New York. My end goal is to be an equity trader such as a market maker. I am willing to work any job as long as it will cover the bills and help me get towards my goal. I just graduated college (WSU) with a finance major and economic minor. I have also started to study for the CFA level one. I already know that I didn't go to a target school and that makes it difficult for me to work back east. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do? I have been networking and have had some success but no interviews or job offers. All I need is a chance to prove that I can out work the competition.

Network more. That's the one thing that everyone will always tell you. You said you've been networking, well it either isn't enough or you're not cut out for the work. If you aren't sending out 100 cold emails or making 50 cold calls or whatever every day, it just isn't enough.

And why are you set on east coast? There's a pretty big finance community on the west coast and it's a lot easier to get to NYC or wherever coming from an IBD position, well, anywhere, but in this case on the west coast.

PS- post your stats. If you have a 2.00 GPA with no ECs and a felony charge for rape, there's not much we can help you with.

Yeah man, why not do ER in Cali or LA? NYC gets MISERABLE in the winter.
