Losing My Hair (23yo)
Monkeys,
2nd year analyst here who has unfortunately noticed a pretty quick decline in my hair thickness and a quite noticeable receding hairline. Always had thick ass hair growing up and am pretty terrified of what the future entails. Just wanted to reach out to see if any of you guys have similar experiences / have had any luck with all these mens health stuff (Hims, Keeps etc) or any other treatments that have actually paid off. Appreciate any help in advance

Same story here, could be pretty devastating to self confidence if you let it get to you. My advice would be don't wait, get on some treatment ASAP (it was ~two years after I noticed my hair leaving that I started trying to stop it, and even then im still not doing everything I should be). Ive been taking topical minoxidil for about two years. I honestly don't know how effective it's been but it definitely works well for some people. I heard taking min+ doing derma roller increases the efficacy by quite a bit but I haven't tried it. I also haven't tried finasteride yet but I'm going to talk to my doctor about it next time I see him before it's too late. I wouldn't do the Hims, Keeps, etc because you can get generic brand for much cheaper. I get my min at target or Costco, usually costs $20-$30 for a half year supply

I haven’t started using the roller and minoxidil yet, but want to start soon to avoid losing hair.
I’m trying to find the post I made on this last week. Short of it is TAKE ACTION and do not listen to these miserable bald guys who will try and tell you to just shave it all of and “hit the gym bro, you’ll be like Vin Diesel.” Being “jacked” will NEVER be a substitute for having a full head of youthful hair. Misery loves company remember that. Take action and listen.
Get on Minoxidil and Finasteride NOW. If you are in a severe position, get on Dutasteride NOW. If you are at the final stages and desperate, get on RU58841 NOW BUT this is a bit more risky as not fully approved yet but has reportedly been very effective. Best of luck.
Thanks boss, picking up Minoxidil after work and will be securing Finasteride shortly. Fuck the beta shit.
Check out Keeps for an easy way to purchase them
Obsessing over hair is beta shit
Are all/any of those OTC?
You need a prescription (very to get) technically for Fin, Dut, and RU not Minoxidil. However, there are websites that sell the topical form of these as "research drugs" to get around the loophole of prescription.
Yeah, I actually have a family friend who's a trichologist (what are the odds of that) and he's always said this biggest think you can do when it comes to hair loss is hop on treating the the second you notice it. Apparently as soon as recession or loss becomes visible you've already lost a lot more follicles than are visible, so acting quickly is key.
The opposite could be said about vane young guys desperately attempting to hold on to their hair with a wide array of treatments. Still have my hair but do find the obsession with treatment this and treatment that to try and fight the genetic inevitable is really sad and unmasculine
LMFAO there it is. You heard it guys, unmasculine. Pack it up, shave it all and hit the gym. Bitches will be in line for you 😂😂
I’m 24 and also balding. I want to prevent further balding and get a hair transplant, but I’m super worried about the side effects of fin. Erectile dysfunction, lower sex drive, watery semen, etc. Part of me feels I’d rather be bald with a functioning d*ck, but as time progresses and I get more and more bald I start to question my rationale. Can you or anyone provide some insight on the side effects of fin?
Fin doesn't destroy your dick and sex drive this is the biggest misconception out there. A giant placebo. Will you maybe only be able to cum once during sex instead of your usual two? Will you have slightly less hard morning wood? Maybe. But guess what? If you really hate it that much you can hop off it and have your super dick once again after a week easy. I don't want to be an asshole but you have to realize guys biggest regret aout all this stuff is that they didn't start SOONER!!
Hop on fin for sure. Took me way too long to start because I was scared of the sides which are way overblown. If it's not messing with you too much after 6 months or so I'd hop on dut.
Username checks out lol.
Fin lowers T? That doesn’t sound good.
Oh actually in test cases T was in good shape:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/14624915/
Fin doesn’t lower test. It prevents the conversion of test to DHT, which is a more-androgenic hormone that is responsible for things like body hair growth, balding, voice deepening etc.
Whilst it won’t really have any major physical side-effects if a person takes it and has finished puberty, lower DHT can affect a man’s sex drive.
I took Fin for 3 years but switched to a topical version because I got a bit suspicious that I was feeling depressed from it. It’s working even better for me and I don’t feel that depression anymore. Suggest you check it out OP but speak to a doctor of course.
Have been on minox and fin for maybe 7-8 years or so. Never saw the “regrowth”, but did at least hopefully slow down the hair loss. Hair loss is still ongoing, but I’m in my 30s now and care slightly less about the hair loss. With that said, I am clearly losing the hair and once the combover completely loses its effectiveness, I am probably going the hair transplant route.
Tbh, you only see exceptional regrowth in a few cases with the meds - but I'd get on 'em just for maintenance.
In the long run, there's only one real solution - hair transplant. Results depend, and be prepared to spend minimum $10k. You'll still have to take minoxidil and finasteride though.
(If you have a decent facial structure, and can grow a decent beard, I'd just shave it or keep it short)
No, at his age and if he caught early enough he can experience significant regrowth. Source: myself
Absolutely no guarantee for that. How people respond, is very individual. Some respond well, some respond ok, some don't respond at all. OP won't know before he tries, and has been on it for a significant amount of time. (I think it's important to paint a realistic picture, as there's so much variance is the outcomes. And, yes, I've been on 'em all myself)
Keeps is legit
I’m losing my hair, I’m 18. Just came to this conclusion last week, will be hopping on fin this week. Am super worried, already have a fivehead that I won’t be able to hide anymore once I need a professional short haircut for finance. I’d say start Fin like I am, and hope for the best. Hope your dick doesn’t shrink as well….
If it is starting it will come as a shock, you no doubt notice before anyone else does. Minodoxil does work at keeping hair, regrowth on smaller follicles, but make sure you use the correct dose, more does not equal more effective. You can get heart palpitations.
Finestride...good luck. Great results, sometimes ~2% your dick stops working.
Most doctors recommend hair transplants at 30+, I would listen to them.
Topik and hair spray or mouse is a good way to conceal a bald spot until you don't care or just go for the plugs.
Hair transplant will be a 40th birthday gift to myself.
I echo the above - at the very least, start taking some finasteride.
The drug is usually well-tolerated by most people. What they won't tell you is that you don't need to take the full dose to have results. The list of side effects can be a bit daunting to someone who is just starting the treatment. Even worse, the typical side effects (erectile dysfunction, anxiety, depression, loss of sex drive) can be psychosomatic. If you're a little bit neurotic about it, you can get in your own head and think that you're having side effects when you're not.
I've experimented (and have had multiple friends back up these claims) - and you may only need a very small dose to achieve the desired effect of slowing hair loss. I initially started at 0.25mg, 3x per week. That's 1/4 of a typical pill, three times per week. It totally stopped my hair loss and I noticed very, very slight regrowth. If you're worried about potential side effects, I would start with something small like that for a few months so you don't psych yourself out. Or maybe start at 0.5 mg (1/2 a pill) 3x per week. At that dosage, the chance of side effects is significantly diminished. And psychologically, there's something much more relieving about knowing you're below the prescribed dosage and that you shouldn't really be feeling side effects.
Search "Customized Dosing of Finasteride" by "Hair Loss Show" on Youtube and they'll explain a little bit more about taking a less than prescribed dose of the drug.
I do agree that in the long-run, working to build true confidence and accepting hair loss as a natural process in life will make you the happiest. But, that can take years of work and sometimes therapy to get to that point. At a young age, actual or perceived hair loss can cause psychological stress and hurt your confidence. There's no harm in, at the very least, experimenting with a low dose of something like finasteride that may be able to provide relief from this issue for many years.
Don’t take shit that will mess up your hormones. If you’re young take something topical. Start taking something like fin that has an effect on your hormone levels when you reach like 23 or something. I was on finasteride for about three months last year and gave it up because I didnt like keeping up with the prescription and my watery nut. Try Minoxidil from Costco. See what that does, if it doesn’t help then talk to a doctor. I also psyched myself out over infertility issues when I got older.
At the end of the day it’s all a mindset and Ive accepted the fact that I’ll be bald. You’re not in it alone and the only person that truly gives a shit about it is yourself.
Lol you had placebo. I've been taking Fin since I was 20. Got my fucking hair back. Thank God I didn't listen to clueless idiots online.
Look up More Plate More Dates on youtube, has a couple series on reversing hair loss with impressive results.. I got good genes so don't have first hand experience... but dude is a pharma bro god, you'll be in good hands there.
Go for the standard otc drugs you get at the pharmacy.
