Low GPA at Target

Hey Monkeys,

Any tips on how to approach recruiting with a low GPA from a target? I have around a 3.3.

I think I can get it up to a 3.4 or 3.5. by the end of the semester, and hopefully 3.6 - 3.8 by the time I graduate, but obviously recruiting is occurring right now (SA 21).

How do I win interviews against my peers with higher GPAs, and if it's brought up as an issue in an interview or networking call, how do I respond? I've been networking around and prepping technicals, and I have a strong but not outstanding resume otherwise.

Appreciate any advice.

you’ll be fine. I had a 3.2 and got into JPM, MS IBD summer internship.

It’s gonna take some work. recruit like hell with the people in your school. find one to three people at each bank that will back you up. i explained my gpa by owning up to it and saying that I had a tough start in college due to a new transition period. some people have it, some people don’t. what matters is the most recent performance. my semester before recruiting I got a 4.0 and made deans list. I said in the interview that they’re not hiring my average gpa, they’re hiring who I am now. you much rather a company that turns it around and consistently beats expectations than one that has buzz of being a super star and only stands to disappoint. show you’re hungry to work and learn and that you know your technicals. you’ll be fine. if you need help DM me. i was there and happy to help on the other side.
