Low Paid IB Analyst With 3.2 GPA > Duke MMS or Vandy MSF?
Hello,
As the title states, I am currently a full time ib analyst. I am paid FAR below what ib analysts generally make (whatever you're thinking/halve it.) I also work approximately 35-40 hours weekly.
I graduated from a complete non-target state school this year and have been with my firm for 10 months (part time 30 hours a week until May when I graduated and started doing near full-time/full time.)
I want to use this experience to get into Duke (my #1) or Vandy MSF (my #2). If do well/at class average on the GMAT will I be very competitive for IB positions out of the program? I am a pretty good networker, and I would stay at my current firm and try to lateral, however I can hardly (as in can't) pay my bills with my current job.
@TNA" Would love to hear your thoughts
I would put Vanderbilt as your number 1 unless you have a compelling reason to do a MMS over a MSF.
As for how you will be set up career wise, having actual IB experience will be very helpful when it comes to recruiting. I am going to assume you are at a smaller shop which is fine. As long as you can articulate some tangible experience, recruiters should like you. Anything you already know means you'll get up to speed faster. You will also be a good off cycle candidate since you know something already.
What about the GPA? Will I get into Vanderbilt with great recs from MDs, well written essays, and average (for school) GMAT?
Worried about the 3.2 gpa when the average is 3.5.
You have a 3.2 and front office work experience. Yeah, it is a little below the average, but I would imagine within the 80% range. Make sure your GMAT is at or above the average and get good recommendations. You should be competitive.
How/why are you being paid so little?
