LSE Finance and Private Equity MSc requirement
Hello fellow monkeys,
Background: I am currently graduating 2020 from non-target Nordic-European Business School (FT 2018 ranking in 4.3-4.5 on current path. During my studies last year got internship from a big Nordic bank (customer service), got employed part-time and continuing on the summer. GMAT preparation is on the way, and personal target is 730-750 score.
On next autumn, the same bank have internships for investment banking position where I was actually interviewed on last year as my profile and all CUT-e online tests went extremely well. They though didn't employ as I had too few studies done which was pretty obvious reason. They have had couple investment banking events recently and been present in there as well. The probabilities to landing to job is quite good right now for 2020.
During my studies I have also been involved a lot in different startup events Slush, couple startups (volunteering work) etc. as well being currently involved one startup which is currently looking for funding.
I have been always most interested about how companies operate and how to make them operate even more efficiently/profitable/cost effective in the future through investments/acquisitions/mergers etc. This has got me to read a lot about private equity and venture capital as well as currently getting couple known investment banking books for tutorial (LBO, valuation).
After graduation I would have extremely good prospects in my current country and its job markets regarding banking/corporate finance. Still, I would be extremely curious to have even higher degree than local MSc and therefore move abroad working in the investment baking field.
Question: Seems that LSE strongly balance that prospective applicants should have "Genuine interest in Private Equity". What does this mean in reality as probably few candidates have had opportunity to really work in the field or have any proper experience. What would be the best way to show the interest towards the specific degree and get invited? Should I continue build the startup where I am involved and get some funding to prove myself relevant or which way to go?
Known young and successful local poker player just got into LSE Accounting and Finance program which is still great, but not to LSE F&PE program even though he had an internship at world-known trading firm SIG.
All help welcomed, my dear monkeys!
