LSE MSc finance profile evaluation

[REPOST: please help]

I know this is an exhaustingly recurring topic, but please take a look and tell me what you all think:

I am planning to apply for MSc in finance at LSE, but I'm overly skeptical about my profile & chances of admission

GPA (the biggest issue): 3.4

work experience (well...second biggest issue): 1 internship, corporate banking. other internships have been cancelled

GMAT: 740 (Q50V41)

IELTS (if needed): 8, *also sitting for CFA L1 in Feb

My GPA & work experience are big problems, and honestly I would never think about applying if I didn't do well on the GMAT. My goal is to get into investment Banking through a MM bank, as a BB position is almost completely impossible. Do you think I stand a chance? if not, is LBS MFA program easier to get into? cheers!

With strong essays you have a good chance. You can’t really do anything more, the only things that are in your control now are the strength of essays and passing CFA L1, which they wont see probably (you’ll be admitted or rejected by then).

As far as I know, more than half the classes are filled already. Don’t delay your application until March (CFA L1 results)

If the corporate banking internship is with a big name thats good. Extracurriculars and actual personality are also important.

stop worrying if you have good chances, believe in youself and just apply. LSE have lots of different masters - choose wisely. Good luck!

PS I dont think LBS MFA is easier. Acceptance rate in LSE is artificially reduced because they don’t require GMAT from UK graduates. If they did, a lot of people wouldn’t apply.

made new unrelated account - dont reply or message as i never use it.

Good luck! And again, don’t make the mistake of underestimating the essays. Speak to alumni students to really understand the program and culture. Let your mentors proof-read your essays for feedback.

Tbh your GPA is fine, I’d go as far and say it’s strong. Dont worry too much about it. I am applying with 3.3 and been told it is enough if other areas are solid. 740 on GMAT is great too
