M&A case study
Have an upcoming case study at an M&A shop. Been searching the forums and there hasn't been any good sources on how to prepare.
Any help here from senior monkeys? Thanks.

Can you provide more detail? What were the instructions, etc.
No instructions were given. HR just called and said the case would be sent at a certain time and I would have a day to finish it and revert. Thanks.
That's ridiculous... until you get more detail, not much you can do, and frankly I'm not sure what they'd expect. Assuming they might ask you to look at basic Acc/Dil / valuation, but seems like a big ask of someone applying. TBD
Perhaps if you could share a little bit more about the role/firm, maybe someone might have abit more input on it?
hey Theolck, its a no name boutique that no one has mentioned on this forums before (i checked haha) so doubt naming the firm would help.
Ahh I see, well maybe you could share more once you get the question then. Would be interested to see what sort of case studies are typically given!
*Why do companies merge with or acquire other companies? Please present an example of either:
1) Two companies that, in your view, would be good candidates for a merger and your rationale for this view
Or
2) A company that would be a good acquisition target for another company, together with your reasoning for this view
Please use real-world companies for your merger or acquisition presentation. You can use any publicly available information for your presentation. As a guide, suggested points and areas to present on include, but are not necessarily limited to:
• Company overview
• Rationale behind the proposed transaction
• Valuation
• Financing and structuring of the transaction
• Areas of consideration / further areas of due diligence required*
I planned on doing a bit on comparable transactions, comparable multiples, an intro to the sector and the 2 firms (and mention the synergies) with a dcf w/ levered cash flow.
anything else to add?
