M&A Writeup for networking opportunity?

Hello monkeys,

I was wondering if I could get some advice. I have a call later in the week with an analyst at an EB (evercore, lazard, etc) who graduated from my school. I am also meeting said analyst at a small school event hosted by the firm in January.
I want to prepare something to give to the analyst when I meet her at the office, like my own report. Any recommendations on what I should prepare? I thought it would be a good opportunity to show them what I can create and synthesize. She is an M&A analyst, I don't know the sector as of yet. Should I create some sort of M&A recommendation or analysis?

Thanks for any insight.

IMHO, before you decide to do the report, figure out what kind of person the analyst is first... it could go both ways depending on the kind of person the analyst is. We have members on this forum who prefer candidates who are more chill, easy going and who are the opposite.

Personally, I would be impressed yet be quite WTF if a junior showed up for a meeting with a report he/she prepared specially for me. I would have both a good and bad/weird impression of the person...

Maybe you can try to do what I did years ago. In my sophomore year, I showed up for an with a readily accessible deck on my phone which I created for a Stock Pitch competition. If the opportunity was there, I would show the interviewer my work. However, I would never force the issue (rule 1: don't creep the interviewer out).

True! I can definitely see how that would be a curveball. The analyst I spoke to was very chill and recommended I look at their RX group due to my credit-oriented interests. I have a meeting with a guy at MS who specifically requested I bring a credit analysis to our coffee meeting, which is why I wanted to ask. Thanks for the help.
