Which is better, their M&A advisory or private equity funds? Also, what groups in advisory have the best deal flow other than infrastructure?

funny i was asked that question on my interview...
First: Advisory=IB Funds=Accounting/Asset Management
Second: There actually aren't very many groups, so the question is kind of meaningless. There are subinfra groups like tollroads and airports, both of which have good deal flow. Media and telcom has some good new bankers from other places. Industrials is the catchall middle market m&a ish group.
More broadly: Lots of pitching, currently doing a big ECM push, less of an internal advisor and little to no principal work anymore. Aussies are laid back, US guys tend to have a bit of a chip on their shoulder. Moving to street comp on the salary side and trending below street on bonus.
