Actually a pretty strong group there; I'd venture to say it is 1 of the top groups in IBD.

In 2009 they acquired Fox-Pitt Kelton, a FIG-focused IB. Although some people have jumped ship, they are a pretty strong group. Dealflow is mostly in ECM, with some M&A and restructuring activity as well. They do a lot of insurance-related deals and regional banks.

Many expect the banking/AM sector to be ripe for consolidation in the next few years; as such, I personally think FIG is a pretty good place to be (note: do not work in FIG or Macquarie).

Bonuses are another story. The bonus situation at Macquarie in the last few years has been well-documented. On the flip side, the lifestyle there is pretty good for banking.
