Macquarie/Jefferies 2011 SA classes

Hey guys,

Am trying to decide an offer between Macquarie and Jefferies (IBD). Do any past SA's have any info on the offer rate given out and how many accepted? I think it's a good indication whether they had a positive experience or not....

Jefferies in a heartbeat. Yes, SA to FT conversion is low and they work you pretty damn hard, but the Jefferies franchise carries significantly more weight in the US than Macquarie. Just work hard, and even if you don't land a FT offer, it's much easier to shop around a Jefferies SA position than a Macq.

Besides, most of the kids I know who summered at Macquarie got FT offers and tried to jump ship to other shops anyways.

Macquarie is known a the Millionaires Factory...therefore you can't go wrong with that can you. Plus they made nearly $1B profit last year and therefore they're in pretty good shape.

Unless you're getting into infrastructure you should avoid - the company is full of bloat and the knives will come out in markets like NY where they are less competitive. Even in their home market, top talent is bailing out to better paying shops.

Everyone I know from Macquarie has either left or is waiting for retained bonuses to vest before they bail.
