Major to get into wall street IB or private equity

I am going to be a freshmen at NYU CAS. Is it better to major in Econ or Econ+Data Science. I know that CAS is a non-target but would majoring in Data Science+ Econ help me boost my chances at breaking in. I have heard its virtually impossible from CAS but I will do my best. The reason I choose Data Science is because I don't think I have the interest to do a Stats or a CS major but data science has a good amount of both so I thought that would help demonstrate my skills. Is it worth it though? Also is there any realistic chance of breaking in from NYU CAS

I don't go to NYU, so I can't touch on the school-specific point, but I will just say firms care about your GPA. Make sure double majoring in Data Science won't bring down your cumulative GPA. Most firms would rather take an Econ kid with a 3.8 than Econ & Data kid with a 3.4. At the end of the day, doing a double major in Data Science will show that you have the quantitative skills. But, you won't learn that many skills you can directly apply to IB/PE. Furthermore, you could be opening yourself up to future interview questions like: if you have a technical background, why don't you pursue something like SWE where you get better wages for less hours?
