Man Week: What a load of shit
Does anyone else think that these 'Man Week' series are completely full of holes? They've been a prime example of what I like to call 'self talk'. Personally, I feel insulted that I was expected to suck that shit up.

No, I don't let internet message boards affect my emotions.
I actually learned a lot from them believe it or not and am going to try and implement some of it into my life. Like tonight, I'm gonna get wasted then walk into the ghetto and try and get some guy with a baseball bat to nearly kill me. Because then, and only then, will I be a man.
It's a good concept, but I would prefer to read something by Vito Corleone or Tony Montana instead of two random bloggers who may be even less manly than I am.
Yeah, I mean you have to take it all with a grain of salt. What I found is that the shit Edmundo has been writing seems to very much oppose the shit Midas has written.
Also, that whole "I had sex with a chick my friend really liked and then sucker punched him and beat him senseless" is so fucking out of line. Like, are you shitting me?
Anyway, yeah, I think to a large extent, the kind of stuff they're even getting into isn't really appropriate for a site like this. Again, some of it is solid, but it does tend to seem a bit preachy.
+1 to all of you.
The essence of Man Week is to question assumptions.
Mission accomplished.
Clarkey, if you really want to feel insulted, let me know. I'm pretty sure I can accommodate you.
Let's follow in Midas' footsteps. Beat up our good friend and take his girl. What a trooper.

I highly doubt either Eddie or Midas want you to follow exactly in their footsteps. The point of Man Week is not to tell you what to do, but to perhaps inspire you to answer that question on your own. Personally, I think it is great that they are offering outside perspectives that aren't prevalent among the WSO audience. If you disagree, that's what comments are for. I've learned just as much from the comments as I have from the forum topics. It'd be a damn shame if we all agreed on everything like robots.
some good advice in there. i am definitely doing that solo camping for a week thing when i get a chance.
I am not sure that i would go far as to be insulted but i do think the site has taken a bit of a turn toward low-end self-help as opposed to being a message board about the industry.
I completely agree.
Yep, just look at the poll...What is your dietary preference? are you kidding me
You are never going to enjoy or agree with everything that someone says.
There was some BS, but I got a few good things out of it too.
Whether it's good or bad advice, I give it up to Edmundo. He can definitely compose an article. Mother fucker can write.
You'd be amazed how few people ponder the questions Eddie and Midas are posing this week. I do notice some disconnect between them too--for instance, Eddie wants you to be aware you are going to die, but Midas seems hell bent on getting there pretty quick!
But that's what makes it fun. If you've ever seen NSFW, you get a small idea of how they'll respond to different things.
Yep, and I'm glad this made the front page. Half of it is sound advice, but the other half is just unabated mental masturbation.
I think the people bitching the most are probably the one's who can get the most out of these articles. Some of them are a little over the top. But, if you're feeling uncomfortable about some random topics that are being discussed on an internet message board, it means it probably struck a cord with you. Otherwise, you'd just ignore it and go about your supposedly busy day or just check out the other threads.
This man-week-discussion is a song that never ends... tossing a ball back and forth, none of them giving the golden path... but then that's life.

Some good broad ideas in there, but overall it was too individual to what the authors thought was the best way to live. Felt like they were preaching the secret to life, when the secret to life will be different to everyone.
The one post that stands out is Eddie's about kids, enjoyed that one and thought it brought up some good points.
Honestly, a lot of people on here are likely pretty sheltered and probably pussies as far as getting into physical altercations go. Not saying the main message is to randomly fight people or anything because I'm not one to advocate violence, but for the 350th time there are some important and valuable points that a lot of you are completely missing.
That said, Eddie or Midas, I'll throw down with you if you're ever in NYC. Hit me up. It'll be fun.
Ok, for all of you who took the advice about stealing your buddies girl and then beating the shit out of him at face value you need to work on your analysis skills. He isnt saying you should do that for fucks sake. What he was trying to say is that instead of being a little bitch and sitting on the side lines you should go after what you want, the same goes for the post about every man needs to take a beating. It is metaphorical, it doesnt mean you have to get the shit physically beaten out of you, but rather that to really progress in your man hood that you need to experience failures. Getting your ass kicked just happens to get you that experience alot faster than pretty much any other failures.
This is how I took it--the advice was supposed to be humorous and hyperbolic to get one to think. I think a lot of it was tongue-in-cheek, but there was some truth mixed in with it, like Midas' friend Stan. Honestly, that struck a cord with me.
I find the "Man Week" thing to be a cheap marketing ploy. I'm not insulted, but it definitely feels cheap to me.
That being said, I think I've read all of Eddies posts and most of MMM's (whicb is typical for me). Even though the veil of Man Week kind of sucks, I still liked reading Eddie's posts. In general, I enjoy reading almost all of Eddie's posts. I find them generally thought provoking and entertaining, which is all you can ask.
Also, I'm a little older than the average viewer of this website (nearing 30), which I think may effect my view on the topics. Eddie's post on kids really stuck with me because I'm getting very near that stage.
MMM's posts weren't as intriguing to me, but again that's par for the course. I didn't particularly have an issue with any of them except his hobby post. I think people can define their hobby as they see fit. Heaven forbid that Midas doesn't qualify your passion as a hobby because it involves another actual human being - ridiculous.
Gotta admit I don't get this one. If it was a "cheap marketing ploy", what got sold? And to whom? And when do I get my cut?

How can you possibly talk with 2 cocks in your mouth?? Impressive...
HAHA

eh it is a bit ego driven
