Married Life and Consulting
Currently in Corporate Banking for a big 4 bank. Have been debating on going back to B-school to get my MBA, but recognize that many people say you should have a decent idea of what you want to do post-MBA before starting. With that being said, I've always been interested in Management Consulting, but have been scared away by the amount of travel. I don't mind it myself, but I am married (no kids and don't plan on it for a while). Is the Consulting lifestyle for a Junior Consultant at a first or second tier firm really as bad as they say it is? Are there ways to make it work while married (wife travels with you, long-term engagements where you can move there, etc.)?
Why is travel scary? Be married for a couple years and you’d pay to be gone.
I've been married for 3 years (right out of Undergrad) and love it. Would much rather travel with her than by myself, all else being equal. She works from home...hence the flexibility with joining, but don't know if that is realistic.
