Yeah Bond liking watery martinis is a joke
The thinking behind Bond ordering his martinis shaken rather than stirred is because when Ian Fleming wrote the books, vodka was made at a higher proof than it is now. 40% is standard now but vodka and gin was much stronger back in his time. By shaking it, you are diluting it on purpose to water it down, thus preventing you from getting too drunk that you wouldn't be able to do your job ie: being a spy.
A modern reader of the books or someone watching the films would probably not realize that fact and instead just assume he enjoyed watery martinis.
Extra Dirty
Too salty if you go that route. Gordon's (I'm a cheap date) and a Gibson if I can pick. Very wet if the vermouth is decent.

Who the hell orders martinis
First time I had a martini I got it just to try it and see what it was about. I HATED it! Some time passed and I tried it again, liked it a bit more and later tried another and now I really enjoy them. Definitely an acquired taste but once you get it they're very refreshing.

two parts gin, one part vodka, one part vermouth. garnished with a lemon since olives are disgusting and only subhumans like them. always stirred.
Olives are amazing and healthy.
My boss won't drink them unless they have a blue cheese olive...he actually gets angry if a bar doesn't carry blue cheese olives.
