Masters in Finance Blog

Ok, as most people know I just finished my MSF and am a huge fan of the degree. Just as everyone else who has applied to grad school I looked at a lot of programs and schools. My time on this board as well as having friends in other programs has given me a decent knowledge base on the subject. Considering that I get a lot of messages on the subject and know a little bit about it I decided to make a blog about it.

Goal of my little blog is simply to provide a comprehensive MSF resource. Not looking to make cash or sell anything, just trying to have a 1 stop shop for MSF information.

I just posted a break down of program tuition costs at a number of popular MSF choices. I have been making posts for each school with placement info (if I can find it) and direct program links to the various schools MSF programs. Basically if you are interested in a program or want to know what it costs and how it places you can find it on my blog, no googling needed.

Enjoy.

Most MSF program I know typical allow either the GRE or GMAT. I have asked them to do away with the GMAT, but that isn't going to happen. I will see if I can get some GRE acceptance, but I don't see it happening within a reasonable time frame.

I am working on having the school update their MSF page. Frankly, it sucks. They now have placement stats as well as an updated class profile. Hopefully it will be updated and modified in a month or two.

Just posted a Case Western profile. Some cool info I found. I will be updating the MSF program cost post now.

Ok thanks. I'm very interested in the school. From the 2009 calendar, it states that the program begins on May 26. Is it possible to begin the program in the Fall? or do you have to wait a whole year to enroll?

I'm graduating from undergrad next June (middle of), so I would not be available to start if it was during late May.

Quick update and shameless bump. I have just about all the US programs lists. I have started the UK ones and am slowing moving to continental Europe. I have a handful of people who I will be talking with so first hand accounts of various programs will be posted soon. Updated MSF program costs are also up.

To everyone who looks at the blog could you all let me know if I am missing any schools or if there is some information which you think would be particularly helpful for the blog to have? I am contacting individuals at each program trying to get some 1st hand info for those looking at programs. Outside of that I am thinking about adding some FRM/PRM/CFA/CAIA/etc stuff, maybe some free modeling resources, etc.

Sorry for bumping this, was just changing the address.

My WSO name change --- I wanted to keep the blog and my screen name here kind of separate. This is where I like to be opinionated and shit. I want the blog to be as unbiased as possible. I am trying to help people in there MSF search and promote the degree which I am passionate about. What I don't want is someone going on the blog reading about this program and that and then coming here and seeing me shit all over it lol.

I like to give honest advice here and felt that there needed to be some type of separation. I am pretty transparent about who I am on this site and thats not going to change.

As for the name change of the site well once I saw that this little hobby was kind of something worth while I decided to get serious with it. It is a blog about MSF programs, not about me. I registered a Twitter account, Gmail account and new blog name to unify things. Once again, I have a personal email and Twitter, but I post random shit on that stuff. I want to have a focused approach. Once the transition is settled and I will start adding more to it.

Ultimately I will get some hosting and go with a direct name. I have friend at like 5 schools admission offices and plan on reaching out to them and getting some inside dirt on various programs. Going to have some downloadable files and stuff like that. In the short time the site has been up it has had almost 4,000 hits which I think is pretty good considering the niche it is targeted to.

So in a nutshell that is what the changes are about. Some other bastard on this site has Anthony for his user name so I had to do the lame ass Anthony . for my name.

Anthony, I did not see SSE (Stockholm School of Economics) in your blog, powerhouse of a program in the continental Europe, decent placement in London. I'm sure you have heard of it. The best thing about it, and Sweden in general,....FREE TUITION! Followed by very, very hot and open-minded Swedish girls. That gap is pretty close.

Yea that's the one, I was a bit confused too but apparently they say they have concentrations, which are really degrees...so they DO have a MSF, but I could be wrong....They do have those hot swedish girls though, let's not forget about that.
