Master's vs Graduate Role
Hello everyone!
I need some advice as I do not know how to proceed further with my career. I am really interested in pursuing a career in finance. Recently I have fisnished my 2nd year of BSc in Economics at Queen Mary University of London. I failed to secure an internship, thus I went for a Private Equity summer course at Bocconi. I consider the following options and kindly ask you to provide me some feedback, as to which can be a better for securing a rewarding finance role. I am indifferent between taking a graduate role now or completing an extra year of education.
1) I will apply for graduate programes at Big 4, and other similar roles and at the same time apply for Masters at top/target universities. This will win me some time to decide which one to pursue. How do you see my chances of securing a graduate role without an internship experience? I have an employment history, however its not finance related.
2) Alternatively, I can reapply this year for internship opportunities and specify in my application that I intend to pursue a Masters degree. But what if I do not secure a Masters at a university of my liking (which is one of the target ones)? I may end up graduating and not securing any rewarding opportunity.
I would very appreciate any advice you may give me as I have no idea as to what to do next.
