Math vs Computer science
Hey guys I'm in first year university and my goal after university would be to either get into investment banking or private equity. I was talking to someone in the industry and they told me that if there were to go to university again the would take something like math, computer science, engineering instead of finance, accounting to go into investment banking. While I know you don't need degrees like this to get into this industry i was just wondering what you guys think is a better option to dual with finance? math or computer science? Thanks.
AG01, it won't matter, so pick whichever interests you the most and gets you the highest GPA. The equation to break into IB goes: high GPA + networking + internships = FT offer.
I'd say math because if you do well in comp sci they might be worried that you'll leave for a major tech firm or tech startup
