MBA for IBD summer analyst positions
Hi guys!!
Been lurking around for a while but can't seem to find much info on breaking into IBD with MBA.
A bit of background on myself. I've just been accepted to do a 2-year MBA (Non-Ivy/top schools in UK/Europe) at a business school set up by the central bank in my country (South East Asia) on scholarship this year. Career wise, been working in consulting + corporate finance (at a local bank) for slightly over 2 years to date (i.e. will have 2.5 years full time work experience excluding internships by the time I commence the MBA).
As its a standard 2-year MBA programme, I will have a chance to complete a summer internship after the end of 1st year. I'm looking at IBD related opportunities but from the research that I've done so far it looks like MBA candidates are only eligible to apply to summer associate positions (with some banks requiring more than 3 years of work experience.
I REALLY wanna break into IBD and don't mind breaking in as an Analyst given that I only have slightly over 2 years of work experience. (P.s. by the time I graduate I will be 28).
I can't seem to find ANYTHING about ANYONE who broke into IBD as an analyst with MBA. Is it really impossible to break in as analyst with MBA? Would be really grateful if fellow monkeys can offer some advice and shed some light on my situation. Thanks a million!!!
I'd like to hear from the fine folks one here also regarding this one. I've heard the MBA is great for getting you into IB and I've heard its useless. MBA or MSF, guess it also could strongly depend on your backup plan if you never get into IB
