Unless you are dead set on L/S, I would strongly suggest you take the offer. Assuming the firm is on the level of those you mentioned, it’s a top-tier internship that outranks 90%+ of L/S opportunities. It would also be much better insulated from the challenges facing active management over time. You almost never see someone turn down a firm like Cap Group or D&C to go to a place like Point72 or Surveyor (not picking on them, just using as an example). So unless it’s “L/S or bust” and you feel you have a shot at a top fund, the long-only is your best bet.
