MBA Internship: BofA Industrials vs. CS Industrials

Hi everyone,

I am trying to decide between BofA Industrials vs. CS Industrials for an MBA internship. Pls help with any thoughts/advice on my decision.

For context, I am at a top MBA program and have networked with people across both banks/groups. On the margin, I think I vibe with people at CS better than at BofA, but I do know CS has lost a lot of senior bankers amid the shenanigans of 2021. Within industrials, I am particularly interested in A&D and Transportation; on the former, CS seems to be stronger, but on the latter maybe BofA (seems like a toss-up)? Lastly, I know that at BofA I would be 1/2 interns from my MBA program, whereas at CS I would be the only intern from my MBA program, so not sure how that might impact return offer likelihood. Also, my MBA program is better represented at BofA than CS. Not that it’s worth much in my calculus, but the BofA office space is probably nicer than that of CS, or is that not the case?

Lastly, I am looking at this from a long-term career in banking perspective. My gut instinct is to go with where I ‘click’ with people more, so CS, seeing as I’ll be spending lots of time over a lifetime with co-workers regardless of where I am, but am I not sufficiently factoring in the impact of CS’s blowups in 2021? I tend to think of these as a temporary blip, but stop me if that is foolish.

Honestly both are great groups.

BAML has an amazing Infustrials team with constant strong deal flow, I don’t know much on them sorry just that a family member used to work there for 2 years and jumped to REPE.

CS Industrials is actually the largest industry group at CS and largest in revenue generated.

I’d go with CS if you really feel you vives with them more. I’m not even sure if the industrials group lost any rainmakers but I might be wrong

Good luck deciding !

CS GIG is largest in headcount, but it does not generate more revenue than FSG.

Also OP, the CS office building was fully renovated, but not sure how it stacks up against BAML. The CS GIG team has a great culture, and it shouldn't be hard to get a return offer.

Thanks for the thoughts, very helpful. In particular, the bit around CS GIG’s culture closely ties with my experiences thus far.

Does anyone else have a differing or contrarian POV? I’m strongly leaning CS, but would love to hear a devil’s advocate take in favor of BofA Industrials.
