MBA vs. MFE for breaking into HFs
Seeing that MFEs are becoming relevant for quant HFs but fundamental HFs dont hire from MFEs which makes sense. However are MBA schools still a target for these fundamental firms?

This really does depend on type of HF/strategy you're trying to get into.
Oh. Where do I read about this to get the context of what you're saying? I'm not very aware of the dynamics of the industry, i.e. variance in strategies etc. Don't want to burden you with the research that I'm supposed to do, but I'm slightly clueless as to where to start
MFE targets at quantitative trading strategy, while MBA is more general. The irony is, for a top HF that focuses on quantitative, the skills set from MFE is far from enough. A computer science guy or a physics guy is more prepared for a job at quantitative HF. MFE graduates are more suitable for mid or back office quant roles at banks. Only the best talents in the top MFE programs have a shot at top HF. In recent years, JPM took a lot of quants from Columbia MFE, most of which are mid office roles. I'd say MBA gives you more flexibility.
