MBB Background Check: Lying on Resume

Usually, company policies are to only verify dates and title, so that they don't expose themselves to potential liability. I've not heard of background checks going into the weeds regarding resume line items.
You're in a really bad spot. I think you should preemptively let the recruiter know before it's too late. You dont want them to find out and be blind sided.
Good luck.
What is the process for background checks that you know of, other posters seem to suggest they won't go into the weeds of one resume line?
Also, if I let the recruiter know, that could blackball me from the firm in the future -- wouldn't it just be more reasonable to reject the offer?
Not that I condone this, but MBB won’t pry into your job description, merely confirm that you were there or not. So relax - you’ll be fine.
Take the offer. They probably won't find out. Don't ever do it again. Take it as a lesson learned that it's just not worth it.
Not a big deal. I am not condoning it but I have seen people make up the time they were at an employer and the schools they went to and still made it through background checks. Total b.s. that it happens but it does.
First of all I don't condone this at all and it's one thing to embellish things but another to take credit for a project you weren't even a part of.
Even if MBB compares your resume submission with a submission at a later point in time, the fact that you took out one experience and replace it with another (so long as the replacement experience is relatively on par with the one you took out) isn't really material. You could explain it as the "fake" experience wasn't as recent or as applicable to the positions you are applying for and therefore you thought it would be beneficial to replace it with your current experience, in the hopes of keeping your resume to 1 page in length.
