MBB vs. PE

Been perusing the PE portion of WSO and there seems to be a ton of 'going to PE regret' unless you hit a lucky seat at a LMM fund. Was curious if any consultants have any thoughts / experiences? Is PE really that bad? I like my MBB seat a lot but interested in PE as well but really don't want to regret the move...
