McGill vs UCL for MBB consulting

Wondering how do both these unis compare in placement in MBB. UCL is higher ranked, but it faces massive competition in London. While McGill dominates Montreal (although a much smaller office) and places decently in Toronto (only Ivey and maybe queens is stronger).

I am also interested in MBB UAE offices, does any of those unis hold an edge in consulting recruitment in the Middle East?

Thanks

UCL is much better than McGill and places significantly better into MBB. It also has a stronger brand name internationally, so would make it easier for you to work in the UAE. Don’t consider McGill unless you really want to work in Canada

Agree with the person above. If you want to go international UCL is hands down the obvious choice. For Canada or maybe a chance at the states honestly don’t see why anyone would not pick Ivey. McGill is more for Canadians who are interested in the international workspace(excluding the US) but have no access to schools like UCL or are aiming for Montreal.

I am considering Ivey, but the fact the school is not well known worldwide as McGill (or UCL) discouraged me. That said, is UCL that better than McGill to warrant the higher price tag (almost double)?

Yes I would say so. This is the advice that was given to me, tuition should not be a big deciding factor for which university to go for. Frankly, the jobs available coming out of UCL will put you in the 1 percent of earners for your age group and yeah in the beginning you might have to cut down a little bit to pay your student loans as quickly as possible but the career progression given to you will put in the path of a 7 figure salary by your 30s. Honestly same can be said for other prestigious schools. Money or no money, no one is going to turn down Harvard or Wharton because it’s too expensive. And I think this applies to almost all “elite” schools. Don’t get me wrong McGill is still a good option but you have to be in the top 5-10 percent of students and you have to work extremely hard and be relatively smart to get there. IMO it’s just a lot of unnecessary work and risk where UCL more so guarantees that you will have a decent chance for what you want to do and opens a lot more doors for you in the future should your goals change say by your junior or even senior year. Again just my 0.02, you have to evaluate your choices and see what is the best fit for yourself because I have no idea who you are and cannot truly advise you on making a really good decision for your future. A side note, don’t ask your school counsellors because they will do everything in their power to keep you in Canada and they will try to really scare you with the idea of debt.
