MD recommened some people. What to do if they don't answer?

I'm a freshman at a semi target in New York. A sibling of one of my parent's closest friends is an MD at a bulge bracket. I spoke to him on the phone for a while a few weeks ago. The MD made a group email with a few other people they recommended I talk to. I emailed them all separately for coffee chat/phone call but some of them never responded. I mentioned I found them through the MD and the MD even had emailed them because I could see all the recipients. Should I email these people back? Should I ask the MD to reach out to them again? The MD has contacted me again asking how it was talking to them but he doesn't know only half of them answered back and talked to me. What should I say?

I would recommend reaching out to each individual ~7 days after the initial email. If they still do not get back to you, I would reach out again to the MD and let him know the situation (assuming you have built solid rapport with him). Do not ask him to follow up with the individuals; let him make that decision. If you still do not hear back from some of them then I'd drop it. As long as the MD and some of the other individuals are pulling for you, that should still go a long way to ensuring you get a 1st round. After that, it is all up to you and whether you kill the interviews.

What can I say mate, networking can be a bitch at times. Good luck!

Send a follow-up. Then send another. Then another. Word your emails carefully/don’t be a dweeb and when you decide which email will be your last throw in a “Sorry if I caught you at a bad time” & a “Let me know if you have a moment or if I should reach out in a couple of weeks.” When your MD connection asks how it’s been going mention to him who hasn’t responded, but word it in a way that asks how to better elicit a response from them as opposed to coming across as a whiny, entitled snitch. Easy as that.

Oh, and don’t forget the sucking.
