Birthday Gift?
I am a summer intern at a F100 company. One of the analysts here has been very nice to me and has helped me with MANY things! I really want to show my appreciation. His birthday is coming up soon would it be acceptable for me to get him a gift ($50)? Money is not an issue here. I just want to be sure that it would be okay? He also took me for lunch.
A nice bottle of whisky would be a nice gesture.
Don't give it to him in the office, though.
honestly, i dont know if i would. it may not look too good / he may think you're trying to schmooze him.
if you are very thankful, i would write him a handwritten thank you letter at the end of your internship
Blowjob?
Okay, okay. Fine.
I second the booze suggestion. Decent booze always makes a good gift - everyone needs a collection of basic liquors, and if they don't want any they can re-gift it easily enough. Maybe a 12Y whisky or some Hendrick's gin or something.
I think it would be weird. Exchanging gifts implies a relationship that is way above what should occur in an intern/non-intern relationship. I have very close friends with whom i don't exchange birthday gifts. If you really want to do something nice buy him lunch, or a few drinks and a lap dance.
Exactly this.
Perfect, thanks!
birthday present for boss (Originally Posted: 04/20/2011)
So I've got a great professional relationship with my boss (very high up partner), and he's really taken a huge effort to mentor me. It's his birthday this week, and I'm wondering if it would be appropriate to get him a small present (like a book or something). No one else plans to, so I'm wondering if that makes things awkward if I'm the only one. I don't want to come off as if I'm trying to kiss his ass or anything.
Take him to a strip club get him plastered, arrange a hooker for afterward. He will never forget your kindness, you'll be at the top of his list when promotion time rolls around.
Lol, thanks bud. Any other (hopefully serious) answers?
well what does he like to do
don't get something overly personal/gay
Just get him a bottle of whatever he likes to drink.
Ok, I'll go with the alcohol. Any good recommendations? I'm not much of a drinker so don't know shit about what's appropriate.
What does he drink?
I have no clue. We went out to lunch a couple weeks ago and had some red wine, and that's pretty much the only time I've seen him have anything other than beer.
Try a six pack of Zima with a big red bow on the top
Why are you so awkward?!
.....he's canadian
Well what type of beer does he drink? You could always get him some micro brews. unless you know more about what type of wine he likes getting him a bottle could be hit or miss.
Get him a wine of the month membership and some KY
Dude, make a handmade card with some crayons. It's a no-brainer.
But honestly, get him a Jack Daniel's Single Barrel. It should only run up to about 50 bucks.
Get him some Cantuccinis with the appropriate bottle of wine, that has class and is not too much. It also shows that you did not buy some random bottle of wine. When you give the bottle to him say something like "..happy birthday blabla and you also want to thank him for this efforts to mentor you"
Chateau Montelena Cabernet. Great bottle of wine for a gift, runs about $90 dollars. The zinfindel is a cheaper option (~$30) if you wanted to couple it with a nice decanteur. Alternatively swing down to Warehouse on broadway and pick up a bottle of Talisker 25yr for $100.
I went with the Jack Daniels suggestion. Thanks everyone.
JW Black Label or Hermes Tie or 2-4 dozen Titleist Pro V1 golf balls (with his initials on the side) if he is a golfer.
Most cliche cheese ever
1963 Graham's LBV 500 USD or 1994 Graham's LBV 100 USD, I have no idea how much you want to spend, but these are both great vintages.
Yeah, I already went with the Jack Daniels suggestion.
You could get him jack daniels
Wine of the month club.
I also have an excellent relationship with my boss, but I would never get him anything for his birthday. Just not how bros roll.
Sterling Malory Archer!
