Meermin vs. Allen Edmonds

Allen Edmonds use better leather, and Meermins feel a bit stiffer overall. But the Meermin lasts are vastly better, IMO. The Linea Maestro shoes from Meermin are closer to the quality to of AE, but obviously priced so, too.

For me, it usually boils down to aesthetics - and in that case, I'd go with Meermin. This may trigger some people, but I find the "classic" AE lasts ugly as hell. Blobby, shapeless, ugh...but they do have nicer sleek lasts too.

Any other brands with nice, modern lasts at a comparable price and quality?

Thanks for the list. I've known about Beckett Simonon for a while, but decided against them since they aren't goodyear welted. Out of these and the ones in the OP, do you have a preference?

These days I mostly buy Vass shoes, which are IMO extremely hard to beat when it comes aesthetics, price, and quality - but they are twice the price of the shoes listed above.

But with that said, my local menswear shops regularly have steep discounts on Carmina during the seasonal sales, and I think they're solid shoes for the price. Nice lasts, leather is pretty good, and they're not as painful to walk in as Meermin. I have around 10 pairs of them, almost all which I've snagged up during sales.
