Less and less common especially at BBs (believe EBs/tech firms are more notorious for them). I wouldn't worry about them.
If they ask you something with numbers and you can't do it easily (ie calculating WACC or FCF with weird numbers) you are fine to say "Mind if I jot this down, I like to see the numbers" or similar. As long as you're not writing down extremely basic math most people will be fine with that answer
