Merchants' Gate + L/S funds + HFs

Anyone have any solid information on Merchants' Gate capital? I know it's a global L/S HF, or at least that's the main fund, but I don't know much about the firm itself. I found out it was founded by Jason Capello, etc... but I'm interested in knowing anything specific about their focus, people, reputation, culture, etc.

Blast, I figured no one would know... why do HFs always feel they shouldn't have a website. Is not having a website "baller" to these guys? Like... unless you've got the 5 million minimum to invest in our fund, at which point we'll find you, you have no right to know anything about us...

Anyways. Can anyone at least recommend something for me to read about HFs in general? I'm not talking about When Genius Failed, I mean like a textbook with detailed/technical information about a number of strategies, etc?

One of the reasons HFs don't list much information on their websites is because of the rules on marketing to people who aren't qualified investors: http://www.reuters.com/article/2009/09/30/hedgefund-massachusetts-idUSN…

There's some color on Merchant's Gate on Hedgetracker, which is a great resource though the information is often dated/sparse: http://www.hedgetracker.com/fund/Merchants-Gate-Capital-LP

Their COO's bio is here: http://www.dencontest.org/judges

"Risk Arbitrage" by Guy Wyser-Pratte is an awesome book I can't recommend enough; even though it really focuses on merger arbitrage it was really eye-opening to me on how to really "think" about trades that go beyond directional bets.

There have been many great comebacks throughout history. Jesus was dead but then came back as an all-powerful God-Zombie.
