You're basically a financial advisor for high net worth clients. Meaning you make asset allocation strategies for their investment portfolios depending on their objectives/needs.
Depending on the firm, some places you will get some stock analysis experience. At others you will only be doing cold calling. Do a search, everyone and their mother has done a PWM internship in the states.
gpc is the same as pwm, just with a fancier name i guess. I interned (unpaid) with a local branch of ML GPC last summer and CDN was pretty much right on for what they do. I got lucky and was given real work, stock/fund analysis, portfolio analysis, etc...but i saw interns in other areas of the office living at the copier so make sure you know what you're getting yourself into.

BTW, are any of these ML GPC gigs paid?
so GPC is the same as PWM? Which, it seems like, everyone looks down upon.
I also have an interview w/ a small hedge fund. Which of these internships are better?
depends on what you eventually want to do

yeah, gpc is pretty much pwm.
is this for an internship at a branch office, or is it for an SA position at the headquarters?
