MFE to S&T SA?
Hi Everyone,
I am entering a Masters in Financial Engineering program this fall and have a few questions about S&T SA programs.
- Do these programs accept Master's students (18m program)? If so, would I be applying through the Analyst program, or are there Associate programs?
- I have a few years of work experience out of school. Not looking for quant trading roles, more interested in exotics/derivs desks.
- What is the deadline for apps to be in / when do interviews start? I have seen a few programs already opened their apps, how long will these stay open for?
Thank you everyone for the help. Would love any other advice you may have on breaking in as well.

Not very conventional path, S&T SA positions are usually reserved for ivy undergrads and unless you are a MFE candidate with good amount of trading experience they might be interested in you and give you an interview at least, but still a tough battle fighting among undergrads from prestigious school
Not really true. I went to an MFE program and ~1/3 of my program went into S&T at banks, though almost exclusively at the associate level, not analyst level.
Thank you for the response. Do you have any insight on the recruiting process? When speaking with the OCR director at my program, they mentioned Sept being when it kicks off. Seeing some of the summer '22 s&t positions already posted, is this accurate? Also looking to time out when to increase the networking efforts.
