MGTOW

Let's bring the crazy discussion over here. Just curious on the WSO community's thoughts. I'm wondering if this just doesn't apply as most finance bros already don't give a shit about what society (women and the whole rising matriarchal class) thinks.

The MGTOWs view women as no longer adhering to the biological norms of relying on 'good' men anymore to stay and protect and provide for the family. Rather, they believe the state does this job. Instead, they prefer to only use men as tools, and thus prefer to chase the 'Chads' of the world.

But also, there are a lot of beliefs about women being incapable of love and only in it to find money, which is biologically to protect their children whom they do love. And maybe that doesn't apply either, since finance bros expect to make at least 100k-1M in their lifetime. What are ya'll thoughts?

Another interesting point they make is that most women will go after the 'bad boys' all their youth. Then when they get fat and old and ugly with children, they want a 'good' guy to settle down with. The theory advocates against the latter (and so do I) for the good guys.

A lot of women I'm attracted to are of the more intelligent, college-educated type. So, they're more likely to plan everything in their life and avoid making the mistake of having a kid outside of a happy, loving relationship. That's good, but it is worrying that the majority of guys are faced with the opposite. Thoughts on all of this?

For those who have never heard of it, here's what seems to be the official line they like to use :

:
MGTOW (”Men Going Their Own Way”) is a way of life which refuses to defer to women in defining the worth of men. Instead, it focuses on positive male aspects, inviting men to go their own way in life.

The concise definition of Men Going Their Own Way (MGTOW):

Men Going Their Own Way (MGTOW) refers to men committed to self-determination. Referring to oneself as a ”’Man Going His Own Way”’ (MGHOW) is a statement of self-ownership and a declaration that a man has the supreme right to decide what his goals in life will be as opposed to having his goals dictated by others who, in preference to self-determination, prescribe utility-based roles for males entailing servitude to women and society.

I think the first part of the thesis:

" a statement of self-ownership and a declaration that a man has the supreme right to decide what his goals in life will be as opposed to having his goals dictated by others "

is a good place to start. You should decide what you want out of life, based on what you want. The next part:

"the others prescribe utility-based roles for males entailing servitude to women and society."

is problematic, because it places blame externally. It doesn't matter who, what, or why people feel goals are forced on them. You should set your own no matter what; at the end of day you decide what you want out of life. I'm sure there are a myriad of factors that influence people; pinning down just one factor won't really help.

Another example along these lines could be religion: don't let religion force you into a life you don't want. Point is, there are an infinite number of places to blame, but that won't get you anywhere.

No interest in debating the rest, but this is funny. The majority of men in finance chose the profession because they care very, very much what women think of them.

Used to be into it. Just unsubbed from the reddit last week.

I think I subscribe to some of the principals, especially those that pertain to goal setting, self-love, and the silliness of putting women on a pedestal.

But I've noticed that the men who comprise the MGTOW group are just bitter white men who have been fucked over by their ex and are now claiming that they are victims of feminism or society. lol please. Try being a woman for a day, or a black, asian, or turban wearing man, and you'll see that the game has been rigged from the beginning, especially in regards to romance and sexuality.

MGTOW should learn from minorities. We stopped bitching a generation ago and started to maximize our value, whether it'd be professionally or personally. For them to think that they have been somehow victimized is laughable.

This stuff is wild. Now I know how all the guys with poor social skills and terrible grooming ended up.

I always figured there'd be a contingent of dudes out there who just lacked the game or aptitude to get laid; I assumed they just got mail order brides or invested heavily in escorts. Never imagined a whole movement coalescing around AVOIDING women entirely.

Some of their points about marriage (as if) or women settling do make some sense though. I'm seeing lots of formerly hot 20 year olds now in their 30s engaged to schlubby dudes they would have ignored back then.

Why does all the beta, neck beard, incel, weak-minded bull shit wind up on WSO? It's like this is a landing page for all the trash from red pill and similar forums.

I actually don't spend any time on Reddit. What happens, for me, is that something like this will get passed to me about it being interesting thoughts. And then I'll usually follow up with a Google search, which took me to the subreddit. But I first found this topic through a video from YouTube. I don't remember the channel anymore of the guy. But, there has been a lot of talk about marriage on here recently, so it brought this back to my attention and I wanted to see what WSO thought.

This is the first MGTOW post on this site, let's pray it will also be the last.

I'm not part of any forums except WSO. Would be a shame to watch this site go down the drain and become infested with this stuff.

Absolute truths don't exist... celebrated opinions do.

I'd say I agree with this, oddly enough. I was just curious to expose this to the WSO community. Given the weird posts about being racist and just everything MonacoMonkey this seemed like something worth sharing. People don't have it that bad on this site and wanted to see if people would bitch a lot, or maybe bitch less in the future. Didn't mean for this to sound as though I advocate for this.

Took the words out of my mouth. Who even has time to go through thinking all this? Just find your passion in life, do that, being flexible and easygoing, and everything should work out.

Definitely feels like something that got birthed via 4chan or reddit, as was mentioned above, most likely by chronologically-aged ‘grown’ men that are acting like teenagers – “it’s so not fair that Priyanka Chopra/Kate Upton got engaged to that guy! I would be perfect for her!”

It seems to be more of a younger generation/Millennial issue where they have serious issues interacting with others – I honestly can’t help but think that smartphones and the online world are impacting brain chemistry. I’m seeing extremes of both helplessness and entitlement in the younger generation and this includes younger women – most especially a level of entitlement in both younger genders ala “I am owed/deserve/require to have a hot chick on my arm” and “I am owed/deserve/require a hot guy take care of me.”

MGTOW are basically feminists/closet homo/manchildren. They want to live without women, prefer male company, want to play videogames for the rest of their lives, avoid self-improvement, then rage because their sexual desire doesn't go away (yes I have met some).

Completely pathetic. Their only excuse is that they grew up in an environment that chastises men for everything and doesn't provide any positive role model if you are a male kid, hence you grow up lost like that. Amazing product of liberal social engineering and attempting to eradicate ''gender roles''.

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.
