Miami Funds/PE 2021
Looking to move down South Florida and gauging my opportunities/reach-outs. I'm interested in things along the lines of HIG Capital and Softbank, specifically their LATAM Fund and their Miami fund, looking for something middle market to large AUM. I like the prospect of working at Softbank's Miami or Latam fund but I am completely lost as to what comp and working hours are like, HIG I have an idea but pretty sure my stats are expired. Anyone out here know? Will SB in return, thanks ahead of time.
For associate down there market is around 100k for base, HIG does moving bonus though.
Thought HIG paid 125?
Bump
HIG is the biggest player. Didn't realize Softbank had a fund in Miami, but it looks like they have a "$100 MM commitment" to funding startups in the city. Their LATAM fund is an actual fund with associates. Don't really know much about it though. Most everything else is LMM though. The only large AUM is HIG. There are a couple that are on the lowest end of what would be considered MM.
There's always news about Miami becoming the next PE/HF/IB hub, but the reality is a lot of firms are opening up offices there, but only a couple partners work out of them. And they're probably only moving due to no state and city taxes and the weather - not looking to add associates in Miami.
Is there any reasonable way to estimate how much the pay for the SoftBank LATAM associates could be? Given the title, it seems like they get carry because some are "investors" and are even getting board seats. I'm interested in it, but completely lost as to how much pay is. Also doesn't help that there's only like 4 of them on LinkedIn.
Not sure how to estimate their pay. Maybe look at their comp in Cali and discount around 25% because they'll pay less in Miami and it's not their flagship fund but that'd be a very rough estimate. I highly doubt they'll get carry. It takes 4 years for carry to vest minimum, with timeline sometimes reaching 8 years and most associates don't last that long, so even if they did it's worthless. They may give you coinvest or leveraged coinvest which would be good. There's no harm in reaching out to one or two of them and having an informational phone call. I wouldn't bring up income but if you develop a good relationship maybe. Also they list out all their associates on their website so there may be more than the 4 on LinkedIn
