How many people do you typically interview?

How many people would you say you/your firm typically interviews after making it through the resume screening for a lateral analyst/associate position? Interested in hearing answers ranging anywhere from micro boutiques, regional boutiques, MM's, BB's, Corp Dev, etc.

IB? I applied to 13 shops and got 3 offers. Not sure if this is helpful or not.

Corp Dev - Depends on the role (how senior / junior it is, how quickly it needs to be filled, is it at risk of losing funding soon and thereby needs to be filled quicker) as well as inflow of (quality) applications over a given time period. Could be anywhere from 10-20+ for a junior role, very highly variable for more specialized senior roles.

The logic here has to be rooted in some historical data in hiring for that group. If you interview 20 people, maybe 10 sucked at interviewing but had a polished resume, 10 remain. Perhaps 5 of them are weak and 5 are very strong. Of the 5 technically strong ones ideally 2-4 are a good fit.

You have 2-4 offers you can make and you NEED to get there because your top 1-3 may decline the offer for a different opportunity. If you don't have those extra candidates to make offers to at a later time then you start at square 1 and filter out 10-20 which is time consuming and costly.

If you want an anecdotal data point I recently applied for an internal role and was interviewed along with maybe another ~10-15 candidates (not sure if they were all internal / external).

If I look at the same job posting on LinkedIn it says "1,000 + applications". Though not quite sure how many of those are quality applications of people with relevant experience, etc.
