Middle-Office Role at Prestigious Endowment Fund Exit Opportunities
I'm currently interviewing for a valuation analyst role at an endowment fund and was wondering if someone could give me some insight on what the exit opportunities would look like. Since i'm coming from a non-finance background, would a middle office role help my chances of pivoting into a front office role in the finance/investing/HF industry? Are the skills learned at an endowment fund transferable? My biggest fear is to be pigeonholed in the middle office role and be stuck there forever.
My current place of employment has a M&A valuations group that serves large cap companies. Would it better to gain business valuations experience at my current firm or get my foot in the door with the valuation analyst role at the endowment fund? I am also open to getting my CFA or FINRA licenses.
Sorry for the stupid questions. I'm fairly new to WSO and my knowledge of this industry is very limit. All feedback is much appreciated.
