Military AND IBD?
Hi all,
Little background about me: I'm a Brazilian citizen, living in the U.S. with a Greencard. I come from a non-target, and I have an IBD offer secured at a BB for S2019. I am currently in my Fall semester of Junior year, with a expected graduation date of May 2020 (If I follow the normal trajectory). I have enough credits, to graduate a full semester early.
I am heavily considering taking off F2019 semester, joining the U.S Reserves, completing my bootcamp and all training in those 6-7 months, returning to college, graduate, and continue with my career in IB (contingent on a return offer or other FT offers etc).
So my question is: Should I be worried about receiving any form of backlash from my MDs and VPs for taking off one weekend per month to go fulfill my military duties, or when I ship off to the annual 2-week training? Will I receive more respect as a "veteran" on wall street? Do you currently know anyone who is serving in the reserves, AND doing IBD?
