MiM - LBS vs HEC-Yale w/ scholarship
Hi all, looking for some advice/thoughts on choosing my Master in Management programs.
About me: Currently based in UK w/ Asian nationality, looking to go into consulting / business development after the Masters. Location-agnostic as to where to start my career, though preferably in a major city like New York or London.
The schools: Have gotten into Imperial and HEC-Yale for this round of applications so far, with LBS results in about a week (I think I stand a decent chance after the interview).
Imperial: no scholarship, 1-year program. Originally my safety.
LBS: scholarship unlikely, 1-year program with possibility for extension to a fourth-term to have openings for summer internships.
HEC-Yale: 2-year program with the first year at HEC and second year at Yale. Yale SOM has offered me a scholarship for about 30% of the fees. The HEC scholarship results are in a week's time, I'm optimistic about getting a small sum ranging from 3000 - 5000 EUR as well.
My main dilemma is between LBS and HEC-Yale. LBS's business reputation seems to trump both of those schools individually and geographically is much better placed within the city of London. HEC-Yale, however, will open doors in both Europe and the US in the future and the Yale lay brand is hard to pass up, plus there are opportunities under this program to take courses at Yale Law School / Architecture / Medicine etc. Another factor is the scholarships from both HEC and Yale, not just for the financial aid but also being able to put them on my resume, which may be a swing factor in future job applications (I may be wrong here).
I'm leaning toward HEC-Yale over LBS at the moment, but wanted to get second opinions due to my inexperience with the business world. Any thoughts?
Not sure about your current internships/academic background but if you are aiming to switch major or gain experience in a all new sector go HEC/Yale 100%. If you have BBA and experience in Consulting already 50/50 for me up to your feel about fit with school and how useful Yale will be for you in your mind.
Consider that if you want to do consulting in the UK, LBS is a bigger name
I'm switching from a humanities major with no prior experience in consulting, although I have a business development internship with a startup in the UK lined up for this summer. NONU
That is quite light to go LBS and apply in October for summer internships I guess. LSE in 2 years you didn't apply ?
