Missing Class for Interviews -- Advice?
3 of my professors get it; 2 of them don't. How do you guys handle this? My Spanish professor is taking offense that I have had to miss her class twice (it's every day) and is being pretty passive aggressive. I spoke to her about this a couple of weeks in advance and forwarded her confirmation emails that verify the time and date, but she is still refusing to let me make up things that I've missed & basically to work around these minor scheduling inconveniences.
I don't mean this sarcastically: is it too much to expect professors to understand what we're going through/the significance of the recruitment period? I feel like my Spanish professor thinks that I'm applying to be a bank teller. I don't know how to explain why this matters to me without coming off as entitled.

She clearly never had any ambitions in her life, nor does she understand that being a baller can be time-consuming.
My advice - go to the career center and bitch that she is causing problems with recruiting, and is giving you ultimatums between the job of your dreams and turning in homework.
That's really what it comes down to. I feel like I'm being a bitch, but at the same time --- come on, right? Recruiting week is at the same time as midterm week, and she's upset that I'm having trouble keeping up.
It's one of those things where, because I'm inside of it, I can't tell if it's me or her.
What is realistic to expect of a professor?

I was pressured into attending a class right before an interview when I should have been doing some last minute prep and it was one of the biggest mistakes I made as an undergrad.
If you deserve an A in the class based on test scores, etc. and she tries to screw you by giving a pop quiz, etc. on the day you miss just challenge her on the grade through your schools process. She will back down.

Wait, seriously? I had an interview literally an hour after my calc midterm and blew both of them -- I have another interview tomorrow an hour after my Spanish exam. I've basically decided to disregard interview prep because I can't afford to fuck it up. Is this wrong? I feel very conflicted and confused.. and distinctly like a bad person, although I'm not sure why (seriously).

As Cries said, go to your career center and tell your counselor what's up. The career center's goals are aligned with the school's in that the school wants the added recognition of placing its graduates in higher-paying professions. These interests trump your teacher's comparatively minuscule mission to fashion you into a fluent Spanish speaker. Bitch is being a major cockblocker.
I agree with whats been said before: Talk to your advisor or the career counselor. Your Spanish professor's behavior is not in your best interest.
Dude, whether she understands or not who cares? I had a couple teachers who were like don't do it and I told them I was doing it anyways. You're an adult, stick up for yourself.
I was in a similar situation in undergrad and I chose to attend class because it was finals week. Long story short, I didn't get the offer and they cited my lack of commitment to the firm as the main reason. We attend college to get a decent job, professors shouldn't get in the way of that goal.

Her entire fucking career is a by-product of idiotic college requirements, which, in turn, create an artificial demand for useless people doing useless things. I had a General Education teacher like this, and told him to fuck off (in friendlier terms) when I was going through recruitment. I'm damn pleased that I did.

Your professor actually cares if kids skip class? I've skipped class to go to an interview and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Just make sure you're not missing anything important.
