MM M&A -> BB ECM -> BB M&A?

I'm presently a first year analyst at a low to mid-market M&A shop (strong performer in the mid-market, not a random local firm). I've been networking and may have an opportunity to join a BB's ECM group. I like M&A and want to keep PE as an option in the next few years, however. Is it worth taking the ECM role to break into BB and then try to transfer internally to M&A after a year or so? I am interested in doing an MBA, so ECM -> MBA -> IB/PE is also a consideration.
