MO/BO at Large AM Looking for Advice
Hi Guys,
I graduated from a smaller university in the Midwest with a sub 3.0 GPA with a finance degree where I was a part of the schools student managed investment fund. I was very undecided what I wanted to be doing years 1 & 2 which really damaged my GPA, but years 3 and 4 I averaged a 3.45 and made deans list 3/4 semesters while working 20 hours a week however didn't land any internships. I have been working for about 6 months in MO/BO doing FI/EQ trade settlement at a large AM (500B+ AUM) however, I'm the youngest on my entire floor by about 15 years and we don't reside on the trading floor which really limits direct networking opportunities.
I'm trying to decide whether to pursue outside opportunities through alumni more aggressively looking for a S&T or ER job(The student ran investment fund has a very well placed mostly local alumni base), to pursue a MSF at a mid tier school for the 2019 year (I think i could get a 700+ GMAT), or stay at my current position because my current manager is very supportive of me taking the CFA (level 1 in December, waiting on results) and seems like will be very helpful in advancing me in my career eventually. I think all 3 of these options are pretty viable but I'm interested to hear some opinions on what I should do. Thanks!
