Moelis Capital Solutions

Could anyone provide more context on this group? From what I've gathered its a financing group that works on atypical capital raises.. Their website description makes it sounds more like secondary transactions.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Second this. Know a friend who joined as FT An1 recently. Been travelling and going back home to DC and calling in with quite a bit of flexibility. Seems like he loves the group/MD - looks like there remains some light at MOE.

The website description is wrong. They brought in a bunch of people from Barclays last year and do ECM/DCM across public/private markets. Focusing on PIPEs, converts, SPACs, etc. The group in its current form has only existed for a short amount of time so haven't been exits but its predecessor group (was called Capital Markets Advisory) I have heard of 3 exits - Platinum, Neuberger and BrightStar. Good group that is growing quickly if that's the type of work you're interested in.

This is correct. Non-traditional financing solutions advisory is how I'd describe it. Basically if something across the cap structure can't be syndicated via traditional ECM/DCM activity but can be via the above instruments and others, then they'll work on finding a solution. Very private capital focused

Anyone get an interview for this group and/or can shed more light to the culture and hours? Because it is a capital markets focused role, do they work a bit less than the M&A / Restructuring Team?

If this is with someone who was formerly or effectively in ECM/DCM and been there for a while I may have worked with them / met them personally during my time at Moelis. All the cap markets people were nice and fun to work with / talk to. Hopefully it goes well for you. Not sure what advice I could give you beyond just some info to hopefully help you

How are exit opps for this group? Are they perceived in the same way as ECM/DCM groups in other banks?

Wanted to bump this. Any idea if you can exit to traditional PE/buyout funds from this group? And since they do (or did do) a lot of SPACs, I'm assuming they work with a lot of tech related companies, would you be at a significant disadvantage for recruiting for tech growth/buyout shops?
