Moelis perks and culture??

Everyone always talks about how Moelis is a sweatshop. Can anyone tell me if this has changed? Has the culture improved in the last few years? Also, can any full timers share what perks you’ve experienced/heard about at Moelis NY?

Moelis LA culture is surprisingly a lot better than I thought it'd be going in. Hours are pretty bad, but not unbearable. People in the LA office are generally pretty laid back, the seniors definitely care about mentoring us and have an open-door policy, while juniors are all really tight-knit. The office is small, and everyone is sort of forced to be close to each other by proximity. Seniors are very appreciative of our time, and are fine with us having our own plan and working in/out office or even leaving the office to do non-work stuff, as long as we get our work done. In addition to usual perks, the firm provides money every Friday for the office to buy snacks/drinks/entertainment. The seniors also try to build camaraderie by organizing company events out to Vegas, etc, all the time.

No clue if any of this reflects Moelis NY culture though. From what I've heard, the culture in NY is definitely not as laid back.

Out of curiosity, I’m incoming ft at Moelis la and was wondering where people tend to live. Are the in Santa Monica because I heard that area is terrible with traffic or living in downtown century city within 2-3 min walk if the office
