Any thoughts on the future prospects of each of the three listed? Or maybe better put, what are the insiders saying about their respective firm that people have heard? I'm curious how the IPO at Moelis has changed things (even though it's been <1 year and how EVR and possibly Greenhill are responding?

The public company transition is bound to change any firm. Bonuses will start to include time-vested restricted stock components, expenses will get more focus and oversight will become more present.

Life as an Associate / VP at these three firms is a pretty good gig. As a broad generalization, hours are better, culture is more unified and distinct, assignments are more frequently live deals, pay is better and level of involvement is greater.

That said, the talent development is a bit tougher post-VP. While BBs offer all of their Directors / EDs a platform grounded on lending arrangements, most of the EBs have built on a model of poaching established talent from other institutions. Anecdotally, that makes it somewhat more difficult to build your own rolodex as you transition to relationship management.
