Mointor Group to PE, possible?

Hey guys,

I summered at a BB but want to do consulting out of undergrad. I don't have a shot at MBB, so I'm now looking at firms like Monitor and LEK.

I know Monitor is a step below MBB. But besides the travel it seems like an ideal place to work in terms of culture and work experience. Even people from Bain/McKinsey can have trouble making the jump to PE, so I was wondering if it was possible for someone to go from Monitor to PE.

Do consulting friendly shops like BainCap ever take a monitor guy?

In terms of choosing between LEK and Monitor:
Monitor has a pretty small PE practice (they do work for Monitor Clipper which is a tiny fund), but obviously has a much better brand name. LEK focuses on all M&A/growth-strategy work, so they do more work that is applicable to PE, but they don't seem well known. Which of these do you think would give be the best chance at PE?

I have offers at BB's and Boutiques and realize they will give me a much better chance at PE. I'm just not deadset on PE and in two years I might want to start my own company or move into the non-profit arena, so that's why I'm choosing consulting over banking, as it prepares you better for more fields.

Thanks for your help.
